In the fall of 2005, I decided to write a fantasy novel. It was just supposed to be for me and my kids. Then my husband suggested I self-publish through Lulu.com. I agreed, but only because I wanted ONE copy to prove that I'd written an entire novel. Over the course of writing and re-writing, and re-writing some more, I inadvertently told friends that I was writing a novel. They all wanted to read it.
It took all the courage I had to share it with the world, but in the fall of 2007, I finally had a copy to hold. It was an amazing moment, but a scary one because now the book was on Amazon and anyone in the world could read words meant for only me and my family. (I still try to not think about that.)
That being said, I'm glad I published it. I can't count the number of wonderful people (both in the cyber-world and the "real" world") that I've met, all because I wrote Eldala. Some of them have become my dearest friends. Others have found encouragement from my story. All of that means a great deal to me.
In 2009, I decided that Eldala needed a sequel. The story is more about Arathor and Tiana, and takes place seven years after the end of Eldala. It's taking me a lot longer to write this one than it took to write the first one, but I'm still plugging away. (For more on that, you can go to my Black Heart page.)
