I started Eldala's sequel in 2009 and had planned to have it finished and published by 2011. I quickly learned that circumstances are quite often not under my control. In the span of 6 years, I've dealt with health issues, getting a house ready to sell, moving to Montana (which included 3 moves), and adjusting to a new environment and life, as well as other life things that come up.
As of 2015, I've written more drafts than I can count (or want to count). Quite often I've wanted to chuck the whole thing, but it's a story that's lived in my head so long it deserves to be told, and honestly, it won't let me not tell it.
When someone asks me, "When will it be done?" I answer with, "I have no idea." When someone says, "I can hardly wait to read it," I smile and say, "Me too."
As of this moment, I'm on draft #4 and have completed the Prologue and 8 chapters. That's 31,500 words that I deemed fit to share. I don't want to think about how many I've written that won't go into the book, but as most authors do, I've saved them all. I'm pretty sure that by now I've written over a million words, but I refuse to count them all or it would send me into a fit of depression.
My eldest son has helped me develop the most recent plot and characters. He's also helping me write from the villain's point-of-view, and consults with me on certain points. The story takes place seven years after the end of Eldala, and is a darker story. Arathor and Tiana are my primary characters, but I also use Kieran and Jessa's points-of-view, as well as those of other characters (both old and new).
The final Prologue can be found under the Black Heart tab above. I'm pretty sure it's not going to change, but don't quote me on that.
